Sometimes during the worst of times, we need that sense of direction to figure out where we are going. It doesn’t need to be anything concrete but rather just a little nudge so we know where to go. Every now and again I contact my “big sister”, Arwen (although not blood related, she is a chosen sibling and very dear to my heart and soul), to get a tarot reading (you can purchase a reading from her here). I’ve had 3-4 done over the last 3 years I’ve known her and they’ve been 95% accurate (a bit of smudging can happen here or there). I’ve had her do the Life’s Path as well as the Six Month spread. The Life’s Path was done at a time when I wasn’t sure where to go or what to do, and given the financial climate that’s out there right now it may be a good thing to get done to help you decide. In fact, that was the very first reading that Arwen did for me and we had known each other barely for a couple of months. She was very able to turn into who I was and where I was going. Sometimes the cards do point out the obvious. One of the things that I remember distinctly was that they suggested I was a guide of sorts. This did make sense for the variety of things of the past and the present: I am a guide of sorts, helping people find their way (I’m an educator, both for college and corporate adults). Even when not in the classroom, I offer advice to people whether about transitioning, cigars or other items. At my lowest time, the Tarot, through Arwen, reminded me that life had purpose and what my purpose was.
For the longest time I viewed the idea of tarot as something that gives general ideas but that wasn’t reliable. It wasn’t until I had Arwen read for me that I realize it was more a matter of finding the right person to understand this. For some this may sound unbelievable but I usually get 2-3 readings in a year to get focused again and again. I’ve found it helpful at refocusing myself and where I want to be as well as centering myself. It also helps that Arwen is able to do this over the Internet (phone and instant messaging to “show” the tarot cards). It’s been a while since I’ve seen Arwen in person but one day, when we end up in one or other’s city, I’ll get her to do a reading in person. If nothing else, it always gives me a sense of self and self-confidence as to my future and where things are going.
